A passenger was seen wearing the motorbike helmet on a flight from China to Australia.
The man was actually worried about the deadly coronavirus outbreak and wore the helmet to fight off infection.
‘When I transferred in Shanghai I did not see anyone in the airport without a mask,’ passenger Marina Jambrina told The West Australian.
‘There was one guy wearing a [motorcycle] helmet,’ another passenger John Fu said. Passengers were also given information sheets describing the ways they can keep themselves safe from the virus.
According to reports, the dangerous disease ‘’is believed to have originated in a seafood market in the Chinese central city of Wuhan, has also spread to other countries, including the U.S., where five cases have been confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).’’
Scientists think that more than 100,000 people could have been influenced by the virus already. In Hubei, more than 3,500 cases have been confirmed.
Chinese authorities have confirmed the death toll had risen by 16, and the number of confirmed cases had increased to 5,974 from 4,515. More than 600 Australians who are trapped in China could also soon be relocated after the outbreak.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said, ‘We’re preparing a plan for an operation to provide some assisted departures for isolated and vulnerable Australians in Wuhan and the Hubei province,’ Mr Morrison said.
‘This will be done subject obviously to working closely and with the authority and approval of the Chinese Government… I stress that this will be done on a last-in, first-out basis.
Christmas Island will be used as a quarantine center to house and treat people deported under the plan. They will be kept on the remote island for at least 14 days.
