Several Parrots Removed From Display After They Started Swearing At Visitors

Several parrots at a wildlife park have been placed back into isolation after they started swearing at parkgoers.

The five African grey parrots in question were previously kept in separate cages in the same room where they spent their isolation time learning curse words.

Even though employees at the wildlife park found the cheeky birds’ foul language hilarious, they had to remove them when they started swearing at visitors.

Steve Nichols, the CEO of Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, said the parrots had been put in “time out.”

“For the last 25 years, we have always taken in parrots that have sometimes had a bit of blue language and we have really got used to that,” he explained.

“Every now and then you’ll get one that swears and it’s always funny. We always find it very comical when they do swear at you.”

Nichols went on: “But, just by coincidence, we took in five in the same week and because they were all quarantined together it meant that one room was just full of swearing birds.”

As the CEO added, “the more they swear the more you usually laugh which then triggers them to swear again.”

“But when you get four or five together that have learned the swearing and naturally learned the laughing so when one swears, one laughs and before you know it just got to be like an old working men’s club scenario where they are all just swearing and laughing.”

The birds had allegedly only been placed on display for 20 minutes before visitors reported the animals were swearing at them.

“We found it highly amusing and the customers were fine – they were no problem at all. But we worried because we had a weekend coming up and children coming,” the wildlife park CEO added.

As the officials confirmed, the foul-mouthed birds will be displayed again but will be placed in five different locations to make sure they’re not encouraging each other to curse at people.
