A witness claimed that two parents left their kids at an airport in China amid coronavirus outbreak.
Many people are panicking as the SARS-like virus infected thousands of people but these parents just decided to abandon their kids.
A Weibo user wrote about seeing a kid alone at Nanking Lukou International Airport as the child had a fever and couldn’t board.
The boy’s father said he was not sick but the staff refused, leading to the airport crew and the parents arguing at the boarding gate for a couple of hours.
According to the Weibo user the parents got on the plane and left the young boy with his sibling, leaving airport staff to take care of the kids.
Authorities has locked down over 11 million people in Wuhan, where coronavirus originated, with a new 1,000-bed hospital being constructed. 13 other cities have been locked down to prevent the virus from spreading.
The World Health Organization explained that “coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.”
But the current coronavirus is new and unidentified.
“Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death,” WHO explained.
“Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.”
Other countries that have confirmed cases are South Korea, Thailand, Nepal, Japan, Taiwan, France, Singapore, Vietnam, and the US.
