When Zoey Catherine Daggett was born, it changed the lives of her parents, Ben and Casey Daggett.
She was their little munchkin for whom they could do anything.
The family was going strong and happy until they got the devastating news about Zoey. When she was three, the family got to know that Zoey had a brain tumor. She was diagnosed with a rare case of tumor in the brain known as the diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma tumor.
The devastated parents shared a heartbreaking photo of their farewell with Zoey.
The Daggett’s live in Fairport, New York, and they were devastated after their 5-year-old daughter died on 4th of July.
Casey, her mother, said that the image was taken just hours before Zoey’s departed. Zoey spent her final day in her parents’ arms watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Ben, her father, said that their little girl died half-way through the movie. Casey said that the doctors had given them two years to prepare as the disease was non-treatable. But two years wasn’t enough to prepare for such occasions, said Casey.
The family first got to know about Zoey’s disease two years ago when she fell on the school playground. She began walking with a limp, and by the next week, one of her arms was paralyzed.
When the test results came, it was revealed that Zoey had a rare tumor that only strikes children aged 4-10. The worst part when the doctor told the family that the survival chances of such disease are less than one percent.
Her health deteriorated day by day but several treatments kept her alive. She stopped responding to radiotherapy last month. Her mother revealed that she was a fun-loving kid who loved her father and mother and all her friends, she even had named her tumor – brain boo boo.
Rest in Peace Zoey; you will always be remembered.
