Christmas is a festival that celebrates the joy of giving but this mother has decided to give her kids something special instead of something materialistic, in order to save money from being wasted and get her kids something they value.
This mother decided to ditch the wrapped up boxes for the Christmas and then gifted her kids the precious gift of time.
Hayley Parker is a mother of two, eight years old Daisy, and four years old Freddie. She decided to gift her kids a letter explaining how she has prepared 12 letters for both of them that they will open on the first of each month.
The letters have a family date planned inside them that will include the grandparents of the kids, their cousins, and their uncle too.
Hayley said “I and my husband were wondering what to get for the kids and we took a look around our house.
We realized that they already have all kinds of toys and they don’t need any more of them. Even if they get any more toys, they won’t value it much.”
She added, “We realized that buying them gifts would just be waste of money and the kids will not be grateful, rather they should get something they really cherish, i.e. time to spend with their family.”
“This idea proved to be a great one as each month we had a trip, the kids became even more excited for the coming month as they had something to look forward to now.
I decided to take pictures every time we went out on a family date and this became pretty interesting. Through this, the kids will always have something to look back at.
They will have memories they will cherish for their entire life and this is the one thing I wanted to give my kids. I am glad that it turned out great.”
