Proud parents of two beautiful children revealed how their little ones knew they were trapped in the wrong bodies all along.

As Sara and Ben Kaplan explained, their 11-year-old son James transitioned from female to male when he was eight years old. While the then-girl was initially afraid to tell her parents about her decision, she was thrilled when her parents told her they would support her transition.

As for the couple’s youngest child, 7-year-old Olivia, she allegedly knew she wanted to transition from male to female when she was only four years old.

While Sara and Ben admitted many people called this a copycat behavior, they insist on supporting their children to be who they want to be.

“The reaction when people hear that we have two trans kids is shock and awe. A lot of people think that it must be a copycat situation where the younger one is just mimicking the older one,” Sara from Berkeley, California, said in an interview with Barcroft TV.

As her husband added, the second transition was “less shocking because we had just had a child transition – we had educated ourselves about gender. We were far more experienced in how to move through the transition as parents.”

According to the family, James’ behavior started to change when he reached 8 years old. That’s when then-she began buying male outfits, got a haircut, and asked people around her to refer to her using male pronouns. Just last year, the boy also legally changed his name to James.

“I have always been a boy. Before I transitioned, I had a piece missing and it didn’t feel right,” he expressed.

“I was nervous to tell my parents, but when I did, they said they accepted me. I was happy because I know a lot of trans kids don’t have that, and that’s sad.”

“Being trans means you were born in the gender that you don’t feel in your heart – anyone can be whoever they want to be, and it doesn’t matter what your opinion is,” James’ sister, Olivia, added.

Speaking of his sister’s unexpected transition, James said:

“I reacted to Olivia transitioning like most older siblings would – even though I’m trans. I was a little confused at first and got a little defensive because I thought it was my thing. But after like a day of that, I saw that Olivia is a girl and she always will be.”
