For decades, 45-year-old Jay and Kateri Schwandt had been trying to get a daughter with little success. After giving birth to 14 boys, of whom the oldest one is already 28 years old, the couple finally welcomed a baby girl into their big family.

Little Maggie Jayne was reportedly born healthy weighing seven pounds and eight ounces. She will now get to experience growing up surrounded by fourteen big brothers.

“We are overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family. This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons, but Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine,” the father expressed.

As his eldest son, Tyler, added in an interview with Detroit Free Press, his parents “were finally blessed with the little girl they never thought they’d end up having.”

While the family is overjoyed by the new addition to their family, Tyler, who already lives on his own, admitted his parents will be in for some major changes since they’ve never raised a daughter before.

“I don’t even know if my mom owns any pink clothing — or anything,” the 28-year-old added. As Tyler explained, his parents didn’t even think of the baby girl’s name prior to the birth as they were convinced they were getting a baby boy again.

As Kateri previously admitted, she and her husband enjoy being parents of many children even though their life sometimes gets “crazy, chaotic, noisy, and messy.”

“We enjoy it. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t have continued to have this many children,” the proud mother said.
