While most kids get toys, jewelry, clothes and chocolates for Christmas, one little boy got what he wanted the most – a baby sister!
Owynn always wanted to have a sibling to play with but, unfortunately, his parents couldn’t conceive their second child, despite trying for seven long years.
The 10-year-old had even added “a baby sibling” to his Santa list in hopes of getting his best gift ever.
Owynn’s mother Stacey Lindsay herself grew up in a huge family of 14 siblings, so she desperately wanted to have at least 2 children of her own.
The mother told Love What Matters that she wished to give her son a similar experience but the couple failed in becoming parents again.
In her desperate attempts, Stacey underwent five miscarriages as well as a failed in-vitro. Finally, the Lindsays decided to adopt a child.
Stacey said: “In June by the grace of God we were introduced to an amazing young woman, Kendra, who wanted to place her baby for adoption.
“We knew it was a one in a million chance she would pick us, but our prayers were answered. We kept the whole situation from our 10-year-old son knowing that the chances were high the birth mom may change her mind.
“We already knew his feelings on becoming a sibling, and we knew we couldn’t get his hopes up again just to crush his heart.”
Although chances were high, the couple didn’t tell their son about the plan.
So, when they finally got the baby girl with them, they decided to put up a little surprise for the young man on Christmas Day.
They wrapped the baby in blankets and placed her near the Christmas tree – since she was a gift for young Owynn – and made all the arrangements to surprise the boy.
Kendra was also there to join the family in their precious moment.
When Owynn walked to the tree to see his gift, he saw an adorable baby wearing a shirt that read “little sister.” It is needless to say that the young boy was overwhelmed with emotion.
