A 24-year-old paramedic on coronavirus frontline was trolled for wearing makeup while at work.
Laura Heath, a newly-qualified paramedic, took to Twitter to share she is proud to work for the NHS during these tough times.
She shared a selfie of herself while at work, sitting in the front of an ambulance, with the caption: ‘Proud to be a paramedic.’
Soon, Laura was trolled for wearing a full face of makeup at work as one said: “Seriously? I think that you’ve probably got better things to do than trout pout!”
While another wrote: “Proud to be a heavily made up paramedic for this photo.”
After being trolled brutally online for wearing makeup at work, Laura has now revealed how she was left hurt by the cruel comments.
She said the comments focused on her appearance and she was told she is the reason the death toll is rising referencing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Laura said: “[People said] that I’m a glorified first aider and it’s ok for paramedics during this pandemic as we get to go home after dropping a patient off.”
Laura said the cruel comments made her feel hurt and upset thinking people only judge her on the basis of just one photograph.
She said she has been qualified for six months and never thought of facing criticism just because she likes wearing makeup.
Laura said the reason for posting her picture with makeup was to be a role model for young women who want to work for the NHS to make a difference.
After her story went viral online, thousands of people came forward to support her and told her to ignore the cruel comments people made about her appearance.
After receiving an overwhelming response, Laura tweeted: ‘After only paying attention to the negative comments on my previous post and forgetting all the good, reading this was so refreshing and it reminded me that there’s THOUSANDS of kind and amazing people out there.’
