A prank caller sparked panic after claiming that there was a bomb at the Empire State Building.
The New York Police Department rushed to the scene after a caller told dispatchers that a bomb will go off in the skyscraper.
Police from the NYPD’s bomb squad responded to the bomb threat but did not find any explosive devices in the popular landmark.
A spokesman for the police department said to Daily Mail that the bomb threat “appears to be unfounded at this time.”
Officers have deemed the entire building safe.
“After an investigation by patrol officers, Critical Response and Bomb Squad, at this time there are no credible threats to the Empire State Building,” NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan wrote on Twitter.
The fake call comes only two days after an explosion hit Downtown Nashville on December 25. The Friday’s blast that occurred on a mostly deserted road at 6:40 am came from a white car parked in front of the AT & T building.
Officers have been searching the home of 63-year-old Anthony Quinn Warner, who has been identified as the Nashville bomber.
Sources referred to the explosion as a ‘suicide bombing’ as evidence suggests Warner died in the incident. The blast damaged surrounding buildings and injured three people.
Don Cochran, the attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, said during a news conference: “We’ve come to the conclusion that an individual named Anthony Warner is the bomber. He was present when the bomb went off and then he perished.”
FBI special agent Douglas Korneski said there’s no indication that anybody else was involved.
