A convenience store owner was left heartbroken and says he’s planning to sue the city after his store was ransacked again.
Walid Mouhammad’s convenience store was first looted in May, and after spending $300,000 to repair all the damages it was destroyed again when the city experienced mass looting.
In an interview with ABC7 Chicago, the devastated owner said: “I’ve been open for just 40 days, so who will be responsible for this?”
Mouhammad said that the second looting was worse than the first as people destroyed the store, ripped out the ATM, and stole almost everything.
“No one came to stop them,” he said to Fox News, adding that “Officers are seeing what is doing on but are doing nothing.”
His landlords said they also contacted police numerous times but no one showed up until the looters were gone.
“I made six calls myself,” said building owner Tommica Foster-Akin. “The store owners, they made calls; my maintenance guys made calls.”
Mouhammad told Fox News: “I want to know, are we protected or not? I want them to take care of the small businesses.”
He also added that he has “been through a lot. A lot of drama, a lot of stress. I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
Mouhammad is now planning to sue the city of Chicago for taking over 25 minutes to respond to their calls for help.

“We must show that you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and not be let out of jail without any consequence. We as a group, not just police, prosecutors both state and federal are committed to making that happen.”
