A pub landlord has gone viral after it was revealed he rewards residents who obey lockdown orders and stay indoors by delivering free beer to their doorsteps.
While Kelvin Wong’s pub, called The Watermead Inn, remains closed as the lockdown in the UK continues, the man decided this wouldn’t stop him from getting the beer where it should be – down the throats.
Speaking of his idea to bring his pub to the locals, Mr. Wong explained all that people have to do is leave empty glasses outside their homes to let him know they need a refill.
“Normally, most people would have been in the pub on Sunday with the first warm weekend of the year. And usually, that means I would be rubbing my hands!” the landlord said in an interview with Bucks Herald.
“But, unfortunately, not this year. However, as a show of appreciation for everyone all staying home to help save lives and protect our frontline staff – I wanted to bring the pub to them!”
To ensure everyone’s safety, Mr. Wong allegedly reassured that all the staff wears protective gear, including face masks and gloves, while at work. In addition, they never come in touch with the glasses.
“I run the Watermead Inn and Miya in Aylesbury, and we have a lot of tap barrels sitting about that can’t be returned and the insurance company won’t help us either, so it would be a shame for it to go to waste. I wanted to give it to the community in Watermead,” Good Wong expressed.
