A spokesperson from the White House has gone on to confirm how the country’s Justice Department will finalize whether or not payments will be made and how much to migrant families.
The news comes after President Biden and his administration received plenty of backlash from Republicans who claim that the money being awarded to illegal migrants was the sole right of taxpayers and therefore an unlawful act.
But now, a senior adviser from the White House spoke about how the exact sum of compensation will only come forward from the Justice Department, in case it feels it is right for families to get a share as compensation for being separated from their children.
The Biden administration previously spoke about how each migrant could end up getting up to $450,000 and that means nearly one million dollars per family. At the same time, President Biden was quick to reveal how the total cost of spending would entail nearly one billion US dollars, thanks to the previous Trump administration.
Under President Trump, his ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy paved the way for many children being separated from their parents after they entered the border illegally.
Now, adviser Cedric Richmond has gone on to add how many US citizens are failing to see the big picture. And that revolves around how we took children.
“President Trump took so many kids away from their parents and some of these kids have never been returned,” he boldly exclaimed. “Do you really think that is ok,” he went on to mention.
Similarly, just last Saturday, Biden could be seen speaking on the same topic that has managed to startle plenty who disagree with the payout decision.
He spoke in defense of those payments, adding how he was not sure how much would be given but it would be awarded to those who entered the country illegally, on the basis of compensation.
