A woman who spent her savings transforming her house into her dream home has been left outraged after the landlord told her that he is kicking her out of the property so he can sell it.
TikToker Channay, who goes under the username @cleaningmum, shared how she just redecorated her apartment when the landlord sent her a notice telling her that she has to leave by January even though she did all the work on the apartment.
“When you’ve just spent ££££ on the house you live in for the landlord to give you a notice to leave by January. What a f***ing joke,” she wrote in her video.
The viral TiikTok clip showed some areas of the apartment, looking chick and tidy with white and grey furniture.
In one of her videos, Channay said that her landlord never kept up with maintenance jobs on the property so she always had to do it on her own.
“When your landlord doesn’t keep up with the maintenance so you do it yourself and then he puts it up for sale. F***ing great,” she said.
The woman said that she has nowhere to move to so she would be ‘homeless’ by January.
Her videos quickly went viral and received mixed reactions from internet users, with many saying she shouldn’t have invested in a house that was not hers.
“I thought it was common knowledge that it’s not a good idea to invest in doing up a rental… because it’s not yours,” one person commented.
“Everyone’s saying she shouldn’t have done up the house; however, some people like to live comfortably regardless where they live,” another wrote.
“Put the house back as they left it and take everything you paid for. Because it seems to me like they wanted to sell after you already fixed the place up. Absolute rob-dogs,” a third added.
