Before the arrival of a baby, family and friends of the expecting mother usually host a shower filled with gifts, games, and food.
However, a pregnant woman was slammed for her plans to host a three-day baby shower.
A friend of hers was so shocked by the plan that she took to Mumsnet and complained, listing all the mother-to-be’s expectations.
“Travelling to another city; meal on day/night one, ‘activities’ on day two followed by another meal at another restaurant,” she listed.
“Brunch on the third morning. Two nights in a pricey hotel. Plus expensive gift list.
“Plus themes to have to dress for such as ‘pink night’.”
The friend said she has no plans of attending as she knows that she won’t be missed.
“The ‘Mama’ as she calls herself on the invites didn’t even invite me to her daytime wedding, just the evening do – so I’m clearly not that good a friend!”
The friend also shared more details in the comments and revealed that the pregnancy was her friend’s third child.
“I’m not annoyed at such, just think it’s breathtakingly self-absorbed,” she went on.
“I am about the same ‘level’ of friendship with her that I have been before and after her wedding. Part of a group of friends that see each other regularly. Most were invited to the day reception for her wedding.”
To add more salt to the injury, the mother said that guests would be expected to cover all expenses.
“Yep, we would be expected to cover the costs of ‘Mama,’ including a pregnancy massage for her at a very expensive place on the activities day,” she added.
People on Mumsnet couldn’t believe the Mama’s plans, with one person writing: “That’s insane! And assuming that you would have had to pay for all the food and activities on top of everything else? Why do people do this to their friends?”
Another wrote: “Wow, a new layer of h*ll the baby showers that have gone the same way as hen parties.”
