The young woman who claims that she could be the missing Madeleine McCann has revealed her goal as she shared more heartbreaking details about her childhood memories.
21-year-old Julia Wendell became a social media sensation after she created an Instagram account where she claimed to be Maddie, who vanished while on a holiday with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, in Portugal in 2007.
She shared photos pointing to similarities like body markings and eye defects.
While waiting for DNA test results, Julia has said that her goal is to help people who have also ‘experienced trauma.’
Speaking to Radar Online, she said: “Even when I didn’t have so much money, I bought food for people who needed food and I found a job for a person who is homeless, so I always try to help people.
“But now, I think I can really help. My goal is to help children and teenagers and adult people who experienced trauma.”
Julia believes that she could be the missing Maddie because of the similarities between her and the British girl, who has a coloboma – a rare eye condition that makes the pupil look misshapen.
She also says that she does not remember much of her childhood but has early memories of a beach and white buildings similar to those at Praia da Luz, where the McCanns were staying when Maddie disappeared.
“Before eight I have only this one early memory with beach and water, like sea or ocean and there were turtles and children try[ing] to catch turtles and take them [in] their hands,” she said.
Julia continued: “And I remember light-colored buildings, like white or a very light color… sunlight on this building.”
