A woman who has the world’s longest fingernails has shared how she performs daily tasks with a combined nail length of 42ft!
Diana Armstrong from Minnesota last cut her nails in 1997 and promised herself never to cut them again after her daughter died in her sleep from an asthma attack.
She said that her daughter was the last person to give her a manicure, and now she’s been growing her nails for 25 years.
Speaking about her daily life, Diana shared: “Zipping up my pants or jacket. I can pop open a can of soda but I need a knife. I drove a car but had to stick my hand out the window, so I don’t drive anymore.
“And in public restrooms, I need to use the biggest stall – my nails are usually longer than the regular-sized stalls.”
Diana also said that each nail takes ten hours to file and polish.
“To file them, I need to use a Dremel woodwork tool. I get them done every four to five years, and get through between 15 and 20 bottles of polish. I painted them last week and it took four days.”
Diana also said that she can pick up bills from the floor but if she drops coins, they will just stay on the ground.
Earlier this year, Diana was officially acknowledged by the Guinness World Records team. She first thought that it was a joke but now she’s proud of her nails and believes her daughter would also feel the same way.
One person commented: “If she has to wipe after a #2, I would think it’s back to front? rather than front to back. Because with those talons, it would be awkward to do it the normal way.”
Another said: “Edward scissorshands part 2.”
A third added: “Must be very difficult to pick her nose?”
