A woman revealed she had inherited a fortune from her ex-boyfriend despite the man being married to another person.

The woman in question explained how she and her ex-boyfriend had been together for 20 years. During their relationship, they remained child-free and never chose to get married.

Their union came to an end after two decades after the woman found out her partner had cheated on her with the same lady he then married and got pregnant.

And while the man often tried to get in touch with his ex in the year after their break-up, the heartbroken woman never replied and never forgave his infidelity.

Recently, however, the man died and his ex discovered that he had left her his $700,000 estate while leaving nothing to his pregnant wife whom he married after around one year of dating.

“I found out that he cheated on me three years ago and I left him. Six months later I heard that they were married,” the woman explained in her viral Reddit post.

“I found out that I was pregnant with my current boyfriend a year into dating and even though we still weren’t ‘there’ in the relationship, we thought that we could make it happen and sure enough we are very happy and we love our little family very much.”

She continued: “When he heard about my daughter he sent me a lengthy and hurtful text about me cheating on him and he never texted me again. A few months later my ex ended his life. His wife is apparently giving birth anytime now. I was surprised.”

After getting contacted by her ex’s solicitor, the woman learned she had inherited everything he had. The man also left behind a letter in which he apologized for his past actions and expressed his love for her while insisting he wanted to do one last thing to help her have a happy family.

Now, the woman is left divided on whether she should keep the estate and the money or share it with her ex’s pregnant wife.

“Now his wife and parents are very angry and demand that I leave them everything. I don’t know. Would I be the a****** if I kept it because that is what I actually want and what he wanted?” she concluded.

After asking Reddit for advice, the woman received plenty of responses, whereas the majority of people suggested she wouldn’t be wrong should she choose to keep everything her ex had left her.

“He gave it to you. He clearly meant to. In terms of whether you deserve it, it’s hard to understand why you’re any less deserving than the wife and parents. You clearly meant something to him, he shared your life for many years. I don’t think you have anything to feel bad about,” someone wrote.

“I think he passed with regrets and wanted to make it right. And I have a feeling he knew his unborn child is not his and finding out you moved on was a tipping point. He left that money to you on his own accord for a reason… He was with you for 20 years and chose to honor that time together,” another said.

A third suggested: “This is one of those situations where it’s really best not to make any decisions quickly. There’s too much emotion. This is not the time to make a snap decision that you’ll have to live with the rest of your life.”
