‘Should I Call Off The Wedding Because My Fiancé Refuses To Get A Vasectomy As We Agreed?’

A woman is contemplating calling off her wedding after her husband went back on his word by refusing to get a vasectomy.

The lady in question said she and her partner had both agreed not to have any more kids due to financial and medical reasons. Her fiancé also promised to get a vasectomy.

Their relationship, however, recently hit rock bottom after the man suddenly said he no longer wanted to go through with vasectomy because the surgery was “so permanent.”

His worried girlfriend has since been contemplating her options including calling off the wedding because she believes her partner might “change his mind down the line” and ask her to have more children.

“Me and my partner, 27, have had a child not too long ago. We both agreed for various reasons (health, money etc.) that we don’t want another child and that is that. Whenever we get pressed on when we are going to have the next one my partner always calmly responds with ‘we won’t be,’ and it made me feel relief that we are on the same page,” the woman wrote.

The mother-of-one went on to say the couple had agreed for the man to get a vasectomy because it was easier for them to do that than getting her tubes tied.

She also explained that her fiancé agreed to start looking into it and schedule a procedure only for him to recently back out of their agreement completely.

“Now I don’t know what to think. I have this horrible gut feeling he will secretly want kids further down the line, we will get married, and he will realize this and leave me for another woman,” the mom concluded.

“I don’t understand where any of this has come from. My partner has witnessed firsthand how awful it all was for me and said he would never want to inflict that trauma on me again. But clearly, although he parades around telling others and me he doesn’t want another child he subconsciously does. Is this the end of our five-year relationship? Do I call off the marriage?”

After asking the internet for advice, the woman received plenty of fresh advice on the matter, whereas the majority of readers agreed the man was too young for a vasectomy.

“You are being very very unreasonable. You can’t dictate what you want your partner to do to his body. Imagine if this was a man forcing a woman to get sterilized!” someone wrote.

“It’s a big decision and it’s his body, you shouldn’t be pressuring him. Just because he has reservations about getting one doesn’t mean he ‘subconsciously wants another child.’ It’s just a huge action to take so young,” another said.
