A woman concerned about the wellbeing of her newborn baby has sought advice on the internet as she revealed she’s contemplating leaving her family home.
The mother in q uestion recently welcomed her own baby after becoming an instant mother-of-three when she married her husband.
As the woman explained, she loved her husband and her three stepchildren aged 8, 11, and 12 despite the kids having “no boundaries” and their father not being willing to enforce any rules on them.
Her perception, however, has changed now that she welcomed a child of her own. The worried mother said her excited stepchildren would constantly interrupt her feedings and interact with her baby when she’s sleeping, causing the child to keep on waking up and being fussy throughout the day.
“When she’s taking a nap, they will go in and touch her and play with her feet or rub her head and immediately wake her up so then she’s cranky as h*ll from a complete lack of sleep,” the mother wrote.
“No matter how many times I explain to the kids AND my husband that they need to stop and why, they continue to do it.
And they are always so loud about it too.Whenever they talk to her, it’s basically them screaming. Like if she starts to fuss, they are immediately right down in her face saying ‘HEY! You stop that right now!’ I’m getting nauseous. I barely eat because this entire environment is making me sick to my stomach.
I’m overwhelmingly uncomfortable around my husband and step kids now because they don’t listen or even care to listen.”
The mother went on to say that she loves her family while reiterating that she needs some time for herself to focus on her baby and ensure that the newborn gets the care she needs.
“I just got up and packed. Told my husband I won’t be staying with him and his kids as long as the baby is still small because I can’t handle them and their lack of boundaries. Both him and the stepkids’ mother are saying I’m an a**hole because the kids are just excited and I’m taking this experience away from them by being ‘greedy and weird,’” the mother continued.
“I’m just tired and grossed out by the lack of consideration. I’m staying at a hotel until future notice.”
After asking the internet for advice, the mother quickly received loads of support from Redditors who believed the husband was in the wrong for letting his biological children run around without boundaries.
“Your husband needs to sit his kids down and tell them they are absolutely not allowed to bother you while you’re breastfeeding, they are not to bother the baby while she is sleeping, and they need to not yell in the baby’s face.
HE needs to put his foot down.If he won’t, then you do it. If they still won’t listen then consider leaving permanently because you’ll never be respected,” someone suggested.
“If your husband is not willing to parent his children and help you care for your newborn then he is not a good husband and isn’t a particularly good father. He needs to help more with keeping the older kids back and everyone needs to stop waking the baby up. If you decide to stay with him, get a door wedge and use it when you feed baby so the older kids can’t get in that room,” another advised.
