A woman with a ‘lazy eye’ has spoken out and hit back at trolls who mock her and make her feel different.
18-year-old Elley Davies has become a social media sensation after bravely speaking out and refusing to let haters get the best of her.
In a series of TikTok videos, the young girl recalled how her eye began turning when she was just four years old.
Despite always being looked down on and mocked, however, the teenager refuses to undergo corrective surgery saying she is perfectly happy with the way she looks.
“Surgery is another scary thing I’m afraid of, and not only because of the procedure,” Elley admitted. “I’ve accepted that I will look like this forever. And I’m okay with that if I do look like this forever. I’ve accepted that I’m happy, I’m breathing, I’m walking, talking, I’m living – just like any other normal person, it’s irrelevant.”
The teen, who goes by the motto ‘even in sickness, you are beautiful,’ also hit back at her critics and suggested she feels sorry for the hate they carry in their hearts.
“I’m okay with hate because there are people who just don’t understand what it’s like to have a visible insecurity, we all have them, mine just happens to be out on show which makes them think they’ve got the advantage to judge,” Elley added.
“But I see it as I’ve got the advantage to be bold with my insecurity/condition and stand out.”
While the teen has received some negative feedback, not all is grey. As she admitted, plenty of people have since her story went viral reached out to her and praised her inspiring them to be who they are.
Elley also says she was amazed after finding out that she could inspire thousands of people simply by being herself and refusing to hide.
