‘I Brought My Teenage Daughter To My Sister’s Child-Free Wedding And Now She Hates Me’

A woman has revealed that her sister is mad at her after she decided to bring her teenage daughter to her wedding.

As the lady in question, whom we shall refer to as Maria from hereon, revealed, her sister banned all children from her wedding because she believes “they are loud” and cause unnecessary disturbance.

Despite knowing her sister’s wishes, Maria decided to bring her 15-year-old daughter along thinking her sister wouldn’t think of it as an issue because she is already old enough to behave without causing any problems.

The uninvited guest, however, wasn’t well-received by the mother’s sister who slammed Maria for breaking her rules during the celebration.

“She asked, ‘Who was I to completely disregard her rules?’ I was confused until she pointed out that my daughter should not be there,” the woman explained in her viral post.

“I argued, saying that the reason she didn’t want children there was because they would misbehave. My daughter was silent, never on her phone, and was extremely respectful.”

Refusing to budge, the bride ended the conversation on a bad note, prompting her sister and niece to leave the event early.

On the following day, the bride allegedly demanded her sister apologize for disregarding her rules. Maria also received angry texts from her parents who condemned her actions and sided with her sister.

After her story went viral on Reddit, Maria received mixed responses, whereas plenty of viewers thought she was in the wrong.

“You had good intentions and your daughter was well-behaved, but you still went against your sister’s wishes. The least you could have done was at least ask her well ahead of time, instead of surprising her with your daughter on the day of her wedding,” someone said.

“This is a poor excuse. ‘She wanted to go.’ Too bad, she was not invited. I feel bad for your daughter because you put her in a bad spot when all you had to say was, ‘Sorry, only adults are invited.’ You owe everyone an apology,” another added.

Some people, however, suggested the mother might not be all that wrong because her daughter is already 15 years old and clearly not a screaming child any longer.

“I might make the same mistake unless it specifically said 18+ or similar. I don’t consider teens to be children, especially teens that don’t act like children,” someone said.

“A 15 yo is a high school student, fully capable of attending a formal event. OP is not a mind reader, and Bride/parents should chill the eff out,” another commented.
