A woman who made a young girl cry by taking over her plane seat has spoken out to defend her actions and ask people if she was in the wrong.

As the 22-year-old passenger revealed in her post, she boarded a nine-hour flight only to find out that the seat she had booked and paid for was already taken by a 4-year-old girl.

The woman also explained that the seat was next to the window, whereas the girl’s father was seated in the middle of the row.

After asking the child’s father to tell the girl to move out of her seat, the traveler was met with a cold response, whereas the man allegedly told her to just sit in the aisle seat and let his daughter enjoy the view because she’s “just a child.”

While the woman initially agreed to avoid causing a scene, she eventually stood up for herself and demanded her seat back after her own father told her to stand her ground and fight back.

“I then told the girl’s father this and he asked her to move. She started crying and I felt terrible but my dad told me to hold my ground,” the 22-year-old wrote.

“The girl moved and is sitting in the middle, I’m in my seat and I’m also sitting back so she can see out the window. Her dad has made one or two snide remarks about me wanting my seat so I just wanted to know, am I the a**hole for insisting on sitting in my seat?”

After asking the internet for advice, the woman was met with supportive comments from people who believe everyone should have a right to use the seat they paid for.

“It’s your seat. It’s paid for. Never feel bad about this. You seem kind. No harm in sharing the view. But do you think for a second that kid’s parent would let you sit there if the roles were reversed? Absolutely not,” someone said.

Another added: “If the father wanted their child to have a window seat, they should have selected one. People choose their seats of preference for all sorts of different reasons, and they shouldn’t have to deal with someone just assuming that they can sit there.”
