A man has vowed to himself that he would never take his wife again after he saw the way she treated service workers.
Posting on Reddit, the frustrated husband explained that his wife was becoming ‘a real Karen’ and he no longer wanted to take her out.
“She is very demanding of service workers, which I don’t really get since she used to be one herself before she got her job in high finance,” he wrote.
Sharing their recent visit to a restaurant, the man continued: “We went out to dinner and she tried to order an item that wasn’t on the menu. She hadn’t been able to decide between two different entrees, so she wanted both of them on one plate for the price of one of them.
“The waitress said she couldn’t do that, and my wife smiled and cocked her head in the same way I’ve seen her do a hundred times as she prepared to rip into whichever poor worker had crossed her that day.”
His wife then told the waitress that if her wishes could not be granted, she would message all of her friends to leave positive online reviews but the catch was that they would pretend to be teenagers who would say the waitress was ‘so cool’ for serving them alcohol without checking their ID.
“I have to give her credit. It was genius, and more importantly, it worked,” the husband continued. “But it isn’t right and I know that. The poor waitress looked so stressed about the prospect of losing her job and it broke my heart.
“Later in the car, I yelled at my wife for becoming a literal movie villain and told her that she crossed a new line every time we went into public. And then I told her I was never going to ever eat at a restaurant with her again. She started to cry and ran out of the car.”
The husband was left wondering if he was in the wrong here but Reddit users said they were disgusted by his wife’s actions.
One person commented: “Your wife is a low-key ev*l genius but blackmailing a waitress? Yikes. Divorce time!”
Another said: “Why did you wait until in the car to defend the server and call your wife on her Karen behavior?! Hate to think what they did to both of your food.”
