A man has been left confused after his wife got mad at him for lending a friend money from their savings.

Posting on Reddit, the 33-year-old husband explained that he and his wife, 29, have been married for five years.

They have a ‘very nice’ home and share two children together.

The man explained that they are living in a house he bought from his uncle before he started dating his wife.

“My parents paid for most of it. We are close to virtually everything important, like two mutli-speciality hospitals, schools, colleges, malls, theatres, and subways, which are literally a maximum of 15 minutes away from our house.”

However, his wife wanted to buy a new house in the center because there were “so many old people living around us.”

After telling her that he was not going to sell their home she did not mention it again but said that they should at least save money for the future.

“It is worth noting to her that we both work, but my salary is a little more than double hers. So I have made the major contribution to that saving,” he wrote.

“A couple of days ago, my friend asked for some money. I didn’t have that much on me, so I lent him from our ‘savings’. I told my wife after I reached home.

“She got so angry and asked why I lent him money from the savings. I told her the reason, but she was still p****d. She said ‘how can I trust someone blindly if he doesn’t return the money?’ I said I knew him way longer than her; we literally went to school together, and his entire family, even his cousins, knew me.”

He told her that he contributed more to their savings and that he didn’t see the need to buy a new house.

“She started crying and went to our room. She’s not talked to me since,” he added.

Reddit users were quick to side with the wife, with one person saying: “The house info is irrelevant. You don’t get to lend out shared money without agreement from both partners. That’s the a*****e move regardless of the house situation or what the money was earmarked for.”

Another said: “You’re married. Even if she brought in zero money, you would still be the a*****e. You do not get more control over the money because you’re on a higher wage. That’s a very obnoxious attitude.”
