Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia after taking a leave from her talk show in 2021 while she tried to deal with her health problems.
Last year, she was diagnosed with the conditions after undergoing ‘a battery of medical tests.’
In a heartbreaking statement released on Friday, the former talk show host said: “I want to say I have immense gratitude for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis of Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).”
Williams continued: “Let me say, wow! Your response has been overwhelming. The messages shared with me have touched me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion.
“I continue to need personal space and peace to thrive. Please just know that your positivity and encouragement are deeply appreciated.”
Her former attorney is now questioning the care she has been receiving after she was put under guardianship in 2022.
LaShawn Thomas took to social media and shared a video of Williams sitting in a bed while enjoying a smoothie.
The Miami Entertainment Law Group founder wrote: “While Wendy was in Miami with her son, I would often witness candid moments of their Mother and Son dynamic.
“I could tell that he loves his mother so much, and as you can see, the feeling was mutual.
“You can clearly see the difference between Wendy’s well-being during her time here in Florida with her son caring for her and her lack thereof in New York under this “guardianship,’” she added.
Thomas then asked: “How did her health deteriorate so quickly, and why isn’t her only child allowed to be by her side.”
She also alleged that she had been ‘threatened with physical and financial harm’ if she said anything about the care the TV host is receiving.
However, she explained that she ‘just couldn’t keep silent any longer.’
