Newly-unsealed court documents show how Amber Heard refused to take $16m divorce payout from the Pirates of the Caribbean star as the actress sells her home in California.
According to the documents seen by the Daily Beast, Heard walked away from maximum cash she was entitled to after they filed for divorce.
The Aquaman star could have sought half of her ex-husband’s $33 million he made filming the fourth movie of Pirates of the Caribbean.
However, Heard decided not to and said in an email that she was “true to (her) word.”
According to the Daily Beast, Judge Penney Azcarate refused to let Team Amber submit a conversation she had with her attorneys during the divorce trial.
Heard’s lawyers were encouraging her to pursue “tens of millions of dollars” she was entitled to through Depp’s profits from Pirates of the Caribbean but the London Fields actress wouldn’t allow them to chase that amount.
During Depp’s defamation lawsuit against Heard, a judge did not let the evidence be shown.
The actress was ordered to pay Depp $10.3 million after being found guilty of defamation. But since she doesn’t have enough money, she’s trying to sell her beloved Yucca Valley home in the California desert.
She will also receive $2 million from the Fantastic Beasts actor in a counter-lawsuit, leaving her with only $8.5 million to pay.
Another reveal from the documents is that team Depp may have tried to submit undressed photos of Heard, as well as her short work as an exotic dancer.
But Heard’s team argued that these were “irrelevant personal matters” and shouldn’t be allowed during the trial.
