Tyler Christopher’s heartbroken co-star has spoken out after his sudden passing as further details about the incident have emerged.
It was on November 1 when it was announced that the 50-year-old star died after suffering a cardiac arrest.
His heartbroken General Hospital co-star took to Instagram and paid a heartfelt tribute.
Maurice Benard wrote: “Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.
“Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.”
The actress described Tyler as a ‘sweet soul’ and a ‘wonderful friend’ before mentioning his work in the mental health field.
“We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father,” she added.
General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini also shared how he was left heartbroken after hearing the devastating news.
“He was kind, an incredible actor and a dear friend, who was beloved by our #GH family and fans of Nikolas Cassadine,” Valentini posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Alyssa Milano, who worked with Tyler on Charmed, described him as a ‘wonderful actor.’
Before his passing, Tyler opened up about his bipolar disorder and his alcoholism.
“Before I took the leap to recovery, I struggled with my mental health,” the actor wrote in an op-ed for Reader’s Digest.
“My addiction to alcohol contributed to losing my jobs on General Hospital and Days of Our Lives — no one else is to blame.
“Eventually, I saw the light, and I was in a fortunate enough position to be able to get the help I truly needed for my mental health and sobriety.”
