Travis Kelce’s ex, Maya Benberry, has accused Taylor Swift’s fans of sending her ‘aggressive death threats’ after she warned the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker against dating him.
Benberry, a marketing and brand consulting expert, told the Daily Mail that she had warned Taylor: “Once a cheater always a cheater.”
“Taylor seems like such a fun girl with a beautiful spirit so I wish her the best of luck but I wouldn’t be a girls’ girl if I didn’t advise her to be smart!” she said.
The 31-year-old continued: “I’m sure by now she has mastered the ability to see who is really there for her – and who is just using her.”
Benberry also said that she hopes the singer “comes out the teacher in this situation and not the student.”
The former couple dated for a few months after she won in the reality dating show Catching Kelce. But their relationship was cut short after the Kansas Chiefs football player started a new relationship with sports broadcast journalist Kayle Nicole.
Heartbroken Benberry then took to Twitter at that time and blamed her ex for his alleged unfaithfulness.
She said in her now-deleted tweet: “When you and your ex broke up five months ago but you find out via social media that he’s supposedly been in another relationship for 6…”
Kelce did not comment about the claims but a source told the news outlet that Benberry’s claims were not true, slamming her words as ‘a poor excuse of someone trying to get her 15 min of fame.’
But Benberry was quick to respond: “If he can speak on his experience, why can’t I?”
Benberry has now been subjected to hate after she warned Taylor about dating Kelce.
In an interview with Inside Edition, she said: “Swifties are aggressive. Very negative, very hypocritical. It’s really crazy to me that someone that I think is positive and really nice has such a negative and angry fanbase.”
“I’m not jealous or bitter about Taylor,” she explained. “She’s beautiful, she’s successful. We’re in two different lanes. My issue is more with Travis in the sense of, now you’re trying to turn me into… a bitter person, a liar, like I’m delusional, and I’m the furthest thing from that.”
