The 27-year-old singer, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi, wowed fans with her white chiffon dress that featured a thigh split and a veil that swirled around her head.

Even though she looked amazing in her photos, fans were quick to notice that her gown blocked the view of people behind her.

The singer was nominated for Best Original Song fir ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

But the Oscar went to ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the Telugu-language movie RRR, which became the first Indian movie song to win an Academy Award.

Viewers took to Twitter and slammed Tems for being ‘selfish’ as people who were sitting behind her were not able to properly watch the show.

“Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud,” one Twitter user wrote.

“It’s distracting and inconsiderate. Anyone who wears something that’s obstructing another person’s view is only thinking of themselves,” another tweeted.

“The dress is beautiful but impractical for being an audience member—which is a shared experience. Being considerate is courteous. But that said, she looks stunning,” a third said.

Others suggested that the gown should have been made with a removable veil so that she could still wear it for photos and take it off when seated.

After the negative comments about her outfit, Tems has broken her silence but she doesn’t seem to be sorry for blocking people’s view.
