1000-Lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton was left devastated after her husband, Caleb Willingham, has died at the age of 40.
In a heartbreaking statement to PEOPLE, the 36-year-old said: “I am devastated to share the news of my husband’s passing.
“He was my best friend and I loved him dearly. When I met Caleb he became my guardian angel and now he really is watching over me. Our families appreciate everyone’s sympathy and ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
TLC expressed their condolences in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to learn of Caleb Willingham’s passing. Our condolences go out to Tammy, his family, and friends at this difficult time.”
It was in 2022 when the couple’s romantic story started at the Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Ohio.
They got engaged in October and tied the knot one month later.
Sharing her joy at that time, Tammy said: “You all knew me as Tammy Slaton, but now you’ll all know me as Mrs. Tammy Willingham. I’m married now!”
The couple got married at the rehabilitation center, inviting only 30 family members and friends.
“When I saw Caleb at the altar, I was just picturing doves and butterflies all around like God had opened up the clouds and let the sunlight in. It was magical,” she said of their special day.
Caleb also delivered a heartwarming speech, saying: “When I finally see her, my heart explodes.”
Heartfelt tributes have started to pour in online, with one heartbroken fan writing: “Oh no! This was a great little couple. Tammy, I am so sorry for your loss. Don’t let this derail your progress.”
Another said: “I truly hope this isn’t a setback for Tammy Slaton. May she mourn but find the will to continue moving forward.”
A third said: “So sad and he was so young. My condolences to Tammy and his family.”
