The View’s Sunny Hostin was booed after comparing the late Raquel Welch to Kim Kardashian.
The viewers were quick to express their dismay while co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar tried to stop her for suggesting that the KUWTK star was comparable to the One Million Years BC star, who passed away at the age of 82.
On Thursday, Whoopi began the segment paying tribute to the iconic star.
“We were so heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of the world’s most enduring sex symbols — the fabulous Raquel Welch,” Goldberg said.
“Sail on, Raquel. Sail on.”
Behar also said: “They don’t make any s*x symbols like that (anymore).”
But as soon as Hostin spoke, she immediately lost the audience. “Well, Kim Kardashian is…” she started to say but Whoopi cut her off and said, “No!”
Joy was also quick to dismiss the idea as boos continued to pour out from the viewers.
Hostin’s mouth was left open as she placed a hand over her chest.
“Turning, turning!” Behar said. “The audience is turning.”
Goldberg seemed so surprised by the comparison that she could not form a complete sentence.
“That’s not even… You can’t even put them in the same… I’m not even… look, I’m moving on,” she expressed.
“Now she’s ticked off!” Behard said.
Welch’s first major was in Fantastic Voyage. She then appeared on prehistoric adventure movie One Million Years BC, which showed her wearing only deer skin bikini.
Even though she only had three lines in the film, her photo in the deer bikini became iconic after it was featured on the movie’s poster.
Welch also starred in comedy film Bedazzled in 1967 and cult movie Breckinridge in 1970.
Internet users were also quick to share their thoughts on the comparison, with one person writing: “I’m glad she was booed! You can’t even put Raquel Welch and Kim K. in the same sentence nor category! Raquel was a great actress and NATURALLY beautiful woman! Kim has no talent and everything on her…”
Another said: “Raquel had class and a real body…kim has nothing even close to that…I would have booed her too.”
