A mother has been slammed online after she shared a video of herself embracing her son at a football game.

The viral clip, which shows single mom Amber Wright wrapping her legs around her son Brixton, 16, has been viewed more than nine million times.

While the post has gained so much attention, people were quick to criticize the mother, with one viewer saying: “I don’t think anyone has an issue with your son picking you up, just the fact that it appears you’re straddling your son.”

“You’re also dressed pretty sexy for a high school football game,” the person added.

Speaking to Today, Wright said that she was a proud mother hugging her child. “I never expected it to turn into something where people are like, ‘You’re s*xually abusing him! You’re grooming him! I’m calling child protective services.’”

Brixton has also defended her mother and told everyone to leave her alone.

“How about you leave my mom alone. She’s never abused me, done anything s*xual with me or my friends, or groomed me,” the 16-year-old commented under one of his mother’s posts on Instagram.

“She’s my mom; she is my hero. The video of us hugging was a HUG. Go bother someone else and maybe hug your own kids. You all need Jesus damn,” Brixton added.

Ms. Wright also explained that she came from a very affectionate family. “I hug my dad every time I see him. What you saw on the football field is just how we are. Brix will pick me up and squeeze me and then put me back down.”

Even though the mother and her teenage son have been heavily criticized, many were quick to show their support for the duo, with one person saying: “You go mom! People don’t know the full truth around a situation because they’re just too busy judging the cover and not even bothering to look on the inside.”
