The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has revealed that he is considering not leaving his $500 million fortune to his children.
The 80-year-old told the Wall Street Journal that he believes his eight children “don’t need $500 million to live on” as he considers leaving his massive fortune to charity instead.
“I think there are more important things than inheriting wealth,” he said. “Leaving the money to charity might do some good in the world.”
While his children might not be getting his entire $500 million fortune, it is safe to say that they will still be left with a huge amount of money.
The Rolling Stones, consisting Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards, and Jaggers, are making headlines after they announced their first album of new material in almost two decades.
The release also marks their first since the devastating death of drummer Charlie Watts at the age of 80 in August 2021.
Their new album will also feature the voices of popular artists such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga.
The rock band has also faced their own financial battles, especially when it comes to ownership rights. Even now, they do not have the rights to their catalog before 1971, which includes some of their popular hits such as Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Satisfaction, and Paint it Black.
“The industry was so nascent, it didn’t have the support and the amount of people that are on tap to be able to advise you as they do now,” Jagger expressed.
“But, you know, it still happens… look what happened to Taylor Swift. I don’t really know the ins and outs of it, but she obviously wasn’t happy.”
