An angry restaurant owner has publicly shamed a couple who left without paying for their expensive bill on Valentine’s Day.
The incident takes place in Stokesley, England, where the owners of The Mill pub lashed out at a couple who downed four bottles of wine and enjoyed a steak, lobster, fries, mussels, and green curry before leaving without paying a cent.
As the furious owners revealed, the customers’ bill amounted to £179 [$243].
“To the lovely couple that racked up a hefty bill consisting of fillet steak & lobster, numerous bottles of wine,” they wrote as they ordered the couple to settle their bill within a day or face getting security footage showing their faces sent to the police.
“Whilst we’re sure it was a honest mistake on your part that you left without paying, please pay your bill by 4 o clock today.
“You were sat opposite a camera & the CCTV couldn’t be clearer. Happy Valentines eh.”
After their post went viral, the owners revealed that they had been in contact with the man who told them that he will settle the bill as soon as he receives his salary.
On the evening of February 15, however, the woman returned to the pub to settle the bill herself. The man she had dinner with on the day before allegedly didn’t show up.
“Last thing on this… The bill has been paid by an anonymous female believed to be his girlfriend!” The Mill wrote in an update.
