‘I REFUSE To Let My Stepdaughter Live With Me After She Threw Out The Gift I Gave Her But Am I The One In The Wrong Here?’


A 28-year-old woman has shared how she refused to allow her stepdaughter, 16, to live with her after the teen threw the gift she gave her and accused her of marrying her father for money.

Posting on Reddit, the stepmother explained that her husband has three children: Lucas, 18, Kayla, 13, and Lily, 16.

She said that she had no problem living with the other two children once a month but she couldn’t build a good relationship with Lily.

After the woman refused to allow her stepdaughter to live with her so she could go to a good school, the 16-year-old was left it tears and said it wasn’t fair that her other siblings could stay with their stepmom.

The woman also shared more details about her relationship with Lily, claiming that she tried to build a positive relationship with her.

“I’ve tried to take her out for girls days, shopping sprees and fun outings. She either refuses to go or complains the whole time,” she went on.

“She then accused me of only marrying her father for his money. I usually don’t let her comments get to me, but this was the last straw,” the woman added.

“I didn’t marry my husband for his money. We both work in high paying tech jobs but I inherited a lot from my parents. I even agreed to pay for part of Lucas’ tuition,” the woman added.

Lily and Kayla were hoping to move in with her so they could go to a good school but the stepmother refused to be around with the 16-year-old.

“My husband goes to work 4 days a week while I work from home so I’ll constantly have to be around Lily and I refuse to do that. I don’t mind being around Kayla, but not Lily,” she added.

Reddit users were divided by the situation, with one person saying: “You’re beefing with a 16 year old. YTA. She’s a young girl, learn to do better.”
