Most people who lost their loved ones want to hold on to their treasured personal items. While others want to preserve heirlooms to keep its special memories, others try to give it another life by repurposing the item.

A father is now facing that dilemma as his daughter wants to walk down the aisle wearing her late mom’s wedding gown.

But when she asked her father if she could wear the dress, he immediately refused because he figured out that it would require a lot of adjustments.

Writing on Kidspot for advice, the grieving husband explained that when he and his late wife tied the knot, she only weighed 52kgs.

“My late wife was a very small person,” he wrote. “When we got married she was only 52kgs. So her wedding dress size reflects that.”

He also said that his daughter won’t fit into the dress and if she really wanted it, a lot of adjustments would be needed.

“My daughter can’t wear the dress since they would need to cut it up – I looked into it. When I told her that, this resulted in a huge argument about me gatekeeping my wife’s things.

“I told her no again, and that she can wear some of her jewelry. She hung up. She clearly thinks I am a jerk and my sons are now on me to give up the dress. What should I do?”

One person suggested that the father should offer to take his daughter wedding gown shopping to see and try on different styles and shapes before fixating on her mom’s dress.
