Author Katie Nicholls said in her new book ‘In The New Royals – Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown’ that a source close to the late monarch claimed that she did not like to think about Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down as senior members of the Royal Family.

Published in Vanity Fair, a part of the book has revealed that Her Majesty was also disappointed when the Sussexes did not fly back to the UK in August with their children Archie and Lilibet when she hosted an annual ‘sleepover’ in Sandringham with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“(The Queen) was very hurt and told me, ‘I don’t know, I don’t care, and I don’t want to think about it anymore,’” a source told Nicholls, adding that it was more of more regret to the beloved Queen that Harry and Meghan’s decision meant she didn’t have the opportunity to spend more time with Archie and Lilibet.

The Queen died ‘peacefully’ at Balmoral Castle on September 8 at the age of 96.

Nicholls also claims that the Queen’s eldest son Charles, now the King, is keen to heal the rift between the Royal Family and his son Harry.

In King Charles II’s first televised address to the nation as the new monarch, he said: “I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas.”
