Angus Mitchell, the only son of the late hairstylist Paul Mitchell, has passed away at the age of 53.
Angus, who became the co-owner of John Paul Mitchell Systems, was found lifeless ‘in a swimming pool’ at his Hawaii home on January 3, TMZ reported.
Police arrived at the property on Wednesday morning for a report that a man had drowned.
According to the outlet, Angus was pronounced dead at the scene and the official cause of death is being investigated.
Only one day before he was found dead, Angus posted a video of him enjoying Hawaiian music with his friends.
He also expressed his excitement for the new year, sharing a photo with his loved ones.
“Who’s ready to wrap 2023 and head into the new year?! Cheers to 2024 from my family to yours,” he captioned his post.
Angus is survived by his wife, Mara Gourdine, and his son Dylan, 8, who he shares with his ex-wife Sian.
It was in 1980 when his father Paul founded John Paul Mitchell Systems with John Paul DeJoria.
Angus inherited his father’s stake in JPMS and it schools after he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 1989, also aged 53.
Even though he studied hairstyling, he revealed that he had learned more about his career from his father.
After working in Hawaii for several years, Angus opened the Angus Mitchell Salon in Los Angeles in 2010. He also traveled around the world on behalf of JPMS.
In an interview with Estetica Magazine in June, Angus said he was looking forward to ‘Global travel and connecting with our people in person.’
“I am so happy to be traveling again. When we can meet and learn from one another, we are all that much stronger together,” he expressed.
