‘Entitled’ Parents Spark Debate After ‘Reserving’ Park Benches For 4-Year-Old’s Birthday Party With ‘Rude’ Note

A couple who ‘reserved’ park benches for their four-year-old’s birthday party have been slammed as ‘entitled and rude’ but people were left divided.

When it comes to planning a children’s birthday party, it can be a little tricky as kids wait all year for their big day to finally come.

Parents usually want a nice location for the party, the best cake for everyone, and make sure their child’s best friends are there.

While celebrating in a park can help reduce expenses, one couple has sparked a debate after they reserved park benches and left a ‘rude’ note.

A photo of the note was shared on Reddit and it read: “Reserved for a birthday party. Please respect the space we’ve set aside and do not use our tables. This is a four-year-old’s party, don’t be the one to mess it up. Thank you.”

The furious Reddit user explained that it is not allowed to reserve park benches and that they were also there to celebrate a child’s birthday.

“It’s the fact that the note was written aggressively while also depending on other people’s decency to allow them to bend common courtesy that I found annoying,” the Reddit user added.

“It’s rude and mannerless. I would not respond in kind of course.”

The poster then said in the comments that the people who reserved the table showed up six hours later and were told by the park rangers to keep their music down.

One Reddit user commented: “Unless stated by officials and with the official’s sign and paper work, all public benches are first come first served basis. Most reservations at parks are usually gazebo-style buildings with lots of tables in them. Other than that you have the right to throw that sign away.”

Another said: “It’s a child’s birthday party. That child won’t have that birthday party again. Perhaps if you do them a solid, in the future they might pay it forward… Is it an inconvenience? Sure. But is it a nice thing to do for someone who wants to celebrate their birthday? Absolutely.”
