A mother has shared how her parents got mad at her and people started calling her ‘spiteful’ after she refused to send a photo of her newborn baby.
Writing on Reddit, the woman said that she and her husband are worried about their baby’s photo being shared with other people without their permission.
But her parents were left furious and said they have ‘lost their minds,’ adding that they did not comprehend the reasoning behind it.
The new mom explained that after 21 hours of labor and three hours of pushing, her parents immediately started asking for photos.
“My parents blew up both our phones, stressed me out to the point of tears so husband called my dad to ask them to stop and my dad had the balls to hang up on my husband and then my dad tells me that him and husband don’t need to speak or see each other again,” she wrote.
“When I was discharged and sent home I sent my parents three texts about us being home and asking to FaceTime them so they could see my son via video since we weren’t doing photos. They ignored me.”
When they finally FaceTimed, she told her mom that she made her labor all about her. “No one asked me and husband what we wanted. It was all about what they wanted.”
Reddit users rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the matter, with one person commenting: “Stick to your guns. Show them this if need be. It’s pathetic they stress out new mothers like that. How does that help you in any way. You got your husband and he’s your rock remember that.”
Another wrote: “It’s because they want to show off their grandson to their friends. The EXACT reason she didn’t want to send a photo: to prevent unapproved circulation. They’re just reiterating why you were concerned in the first place.”
