Meghan Markle’s friend Omid Scobie insisted that the future of the Royal Family will be ‘dull’ without the ‘Gen Z-favored Sussexes’.
Mr. Scobie also said that there was ‘no interaction’ between the Sussexes and the Cambridges during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The royal commentator claimed “one couldn’t help but feel a little underwhelmed when looking at the royal landscape without the Queen” and that the “institution’s next chapter is yet to feel like it aligns with modern day society.”
Mr. Scobie’s remarks came as Her Majesty’s Twitter page shared a new header photo of the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Roya Nikka, a royal expert, said that the change of header image had some “clear messaging – here is the future of the British monarchy.”
Mr. Scobie also wrote in his column: “Prince Harry and Meghan’s presence at two engagements quietly came and went (to cheers). Their private moments with the Queen, who met great-granddaughter Lilibet on more than one occasion, were kept exactly that.”
Also known as the cheerleader for Meghan and Harry, Mr. Scobie said that speeches from Charles and William during the celebrations “allowed the two heirs to give a taste of what’s to come” once they take on new roles in the future.
“While we celebrate the Queen’s golden reign, we are also reminded that the future without her might just, dare I say it, look a little dull,” he wrote.
“Though her successors are no doubt capable in their royal roles, the institution’s next chapter is yet to feel like it aligns with modern-day society, and our expectations within it.”
