Writing on Reddit, the bride explained that her mother-in-law hated her from the moment they met.

“I moved in with her son and had a baby without getting married and she truly believed I was the dev*l incarnate sent to draw her baby boy into the depths of h*ll,” she wrote.

The woman also explained that she never cared about getting married but it was important to her partner so she agreed as long as it wasn’t a church wedding.

Her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law then wanted to be a part of the wedding planning and insisted on coming along during dress shopping.

“The in-laws behaved and I found a dress that I didn’t hate as much as the others. I paid for it and we left,” she continued.

But the next day, the bridal shop called her to inform her that her in-laws ordered the exact same dress for themselves.

She told her husband about what happened and he couldn’t believe his family would do such a thing.

The bride then returned to the shop and ordered a dark purple dress with black trim.

After that, she also called all of her friends who have wedding dresses and asked them if they could wear their gowns to her big day.

“Sometimes they say they feel sad that they spent all that money on a dress that they’ll never wear again. I talked to my husband and he agreed, so the invitations went out and every person who had ever worn a wedding dress was invited to wear it to our wedding,” she continued.

Her in-laws received different invitations that asked them not to wear white.

On her wedding day, her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law arrived in matching white dresses but were “completely absorbed by the rest of the crowd.”

“They looked exactly like everyone else, except for my mum and brother’s wife, who wore purple like me. They weren’t going to ruin my day by upstaging me. My husband, who up to that point really didn’t think they would do something so vile, turned to stone that day,” she added.

Reddit users were quick to praise the woman, with one person writing: “You didn’t just get your revenge, you also made all those women’s day by letting them wear their wedding dresses again. Love it!”

Another said: “I’m a big fat man, and I would have worn a wedding dress if I knew the reason.”
