A frustrated wife has revealed her ‘mother-in-law’s ‘unhealthy obsession’ with her son and it is causing problems in their marriage.
Taking to Reddit, she said that she is ‘terrified’ of what her mother-in-law will do next as she had always shown ‘unnerving’ behavior right from the start of their relationship.
“When my husband and I were fresh into our budding relationship she started with comments about how she feels me being affectionate with “her boy” is SA. Then she began making personal little jabs at me when no one else was around,” she wrote.
She also shared how her mother-in-law falsely accused her of using illegal substances.
“Then MIL started crying anytime she talked to my husband saying that he was ruining their family and insisting it wasn’t like him to do this. She did not start out straight up saying it is my fault but it got to that point,” she went on.
The mother-in-law also almost ruined their anniversary trip by announcing that she and her husband would be joining them in their hotel room.
During the wife’s birthday, the husband received a text message from his mother saying that she loved him very much and that it was ‘death do us part for them (husband and MIL).’
“She wishes he would make the right decision and come back home (without me) so they can fix their family she also threw in some weird comment about her being ‘the first and most important woman in his life,’” the wife continued.
After the holidays, the couple received a gift from the mother-in-law even though they asked her not to.
“She had gotten him a matching couples bracelet from an expensive jewelry shop, she has the heart shaped charm engraved with one side saying “till death do us part, I’m eternally yours” and the other side engraved with his childhood nickname. We both were creeped out and he immediately threw it away,” she revealed.
The wife then shared that she’s pregnant but scared of what her MIL would do once she finds out.
One Reddit user said: “The only way. Legal consequences for trespassing and being within X yards of your property. If you want to protect your child and avoid possible kidnapping (which it sounds like she is unhinged enough to try) you need to take LEGAL action where police can be involved.”
Another said: “The ‘bracelet’ gives me the creeps…get far, far away!”
