‘My Mother-In-Law Is So Desperate To Become Like Me And I Hate It Especially When She Decided To Copy My Star Sign’

A woman has shared how she was left frustrated with her mother-in-law because she was trying to become just like her.

Taking to Reddit, the woman claimed that her mother-in-law copies everything that she does – her interests, hobbies, hairstyle and clothing.

“Ever since I married my husband, my mother-in-law seems to like to copy whatever I’m doing. Whatever I have, she needs it as well. Why, I don’t know but everybody in our family has noticed it and smiles about it behind her back,” she wrote.

The woman also said that her mother-in-law tries to make it look like a coincidence.

“When I started to grow lilies, she dug her garden to do the same even though the smell of lilies give her a headache. When I cut my hair into a pixie cut, she did the same. When I started to learn Spanish, she applied for the same classes,” she went on.

She also said that every time she buys something new, her mother-in-law also gets something new the next day.

“It doesn’t bother me but sometimes I think don’t you have your own interests, mother-in-law? Why do you feel the need to copy and paste my life? If I decide to jump out of the window, will you do it too?” she added.

But what made her furious was when she bought a Scorpio necklace and a Gemini one for her daughter.

“At dinner later, I discovered that my mother-in-law also has a Scorpio necklace, even though she’s a Pisces. My sister-in-law pointed it out and my mother-in-law looked at me angrily and said ‘How are we going to wear two identical necklaces now? Why did you have to choose what I chose?’

“I was like excuse me? You tell me why you got a Scorpio necklace when you know that’s not your sign.”

Reddit users were quick to express their shock at the mother-in-law’s actions, with one person saying: “Please research the term “mirroring” if no other responder has suggested it.”

Another said: “I would play dumb and take a picture of you two wearing the same necklace, post to Facebook captioned ‘My mother-in-law wears my sign honoring me, her beloved daughter-in-law.’”
