A mother has sparked a heated debate after sharing a fiery clip in which she told people to stop buying “junk” for her children’s birthdays.

The British mom in question, who is known on TikTok as Month of Sunday, said she’s fed up with her relatives and friends who are buying useless gifts for her child instead of handing over cash or gift cards.

“Stop buying my child junk, that is the long and short of it,” the mother said in her viral video.

“I know I’m going to sound ungrateful but right now I don’t care, I’ve had enough.”

She went on to reveal that people continue buying junk for her daughter even though she told them the child doesn’t need ‘thoughtless’ gifts.

While the woman admitted she, too, buys gifts for her friends’ children, she insisted that her gifts are thoughtful, “quality things” and not cheap junk.

“When I’m buying your kids’ stuff I’m buying quality things, I’m buying things I’ve actually put thought into,” the infuriated mom added.

In her caption, she wrote: “I’ve had enough at this point. if it’s not thoughtful my baby is not in need of it. Because it’s the thought that counts right.”

After sharing her thoughts on the matter of birthday gifts, the mother received lots of support from people who believe that cash or gift cards are a much better birthday gift choice than stuff that kids will never actually use.

“Real talk!! My son’s aunt bought him a tablet for Christmas despite me saying no to her over 6 times,” the top commenter wrote.

“Same for adults. I put so much thought into presents, thing they end up loving and using for years, and they get me bath bombs. I don’t have a bath,” another said.

The third suggested: “I say the same thing when asked, we opened him a bank account and if people insist we just say they can put some money in there.”
