Mother Pulls 12-Year-Old Daughter Out Of School So She Can Focus On Her TikTok As They Don’t Want To Miss Out On Opportunities


A mother-of-two has left parents divided after she revealed that she pulled her 12-year-old daughter out of school so she can focus on TikTok.

Kat Clark has more than five million followers on TikTok, where she hosts her podcast called ‘Basically Besties’ alongside her daughters Deja, 12, and Latisha, 20.

Explaining her decision to help her daughter focus on her TikTok career, she said oh ‘It’s All Her’ podcast with Jody Lucas: “Traditional schooling worked (for Deja). Since coming into this new career, there is a lot of traveling involved.”

Clark continued: “Deja’s even starting to get opportunities as well now, so 9-3, Monday to Friday schooling isn’t working for us because we’ve found that we’ve had to take her out of school quite a bit.”

The mother then explained that she has enrolled her daughter into homeschooling so she can start early on her TikTok career.

“We think that’s best for her, just because we don’t want her to miss out on these opportunities,” she said.

“TikTok takes a lot of time. It’s just what works for our family.”

Clark also shared how her eldest daughter initially enrolled in law school but decided to drop out to follow her mother’s footsteps.

“With Deja, if she wanted to be a doctor or lawyer – we’d encourage her to go after those dreams. But currently, those are not what her goals are. We’re willing to work with her whatever happens,” she continued.

While many were quick to criticize her decision, others showed their support, with one person commenting: “I would support mine doing that. There is no time limit on learning. If they want to finish their education later they can do it in many different ways.”

Another said: “I’d 100 percent let my child drop out of school if they had some direction and were mature enough.”
