A mother has sparked a debate as she revealed she’s not buying any gifts for her young daughter for Christmas because the child was too young to appreciate them anyway.
Tiffany Chesson, 28, is a mom from the UK who was dubbed “miserable” by online trolls after revealing her 5-month-old daughter would be getting Christmas gifts because she already received the gift of life.
As the mother explained, she didn’t feel the need to buy her daughter any gifts because she was still too young to understand what was going on or appreciate the gifts.
“There is no point in buying her a Christmas present, she’s too young to understand and appreciate it,” she said in her viral video.
“My friends and family are going to buy her presents and that’s okay. Next year she’ll be 18 months at Christmas and she’ll definitely be getting presents then.”
Tiffany went on to say that she felt pressured to spend a lot of money on gifts for her youngest child. Nevertheless, she remains determined not to “damage” her bank account with unnecessary purchases.
Her candid admission took her viewers by surprise and left the parents divided. While some supported and defended her approach, others branded her as cheap and miserable.
“Small gift ain’t going to kill you,” someone wrote, prompting the mom to respond by saying: “I gave her the gift of life!”
“Poor baby, she deserves gifts just like her older sibling,” another said.
Meanwhile, many fellow parents rushed to the young mom’s defense saying babies didn’t need gifts.
“A 5-month-old baby doesn’t need a gift. They don’t even know what that is. What they need is diapers and new clothes. Good job momma,” someone wrote.
“Common sense, parents nowadays are spending way too much money on junk then they complain about not having money to afford more important things,” another said.
