A concerned mother-to-be spoke out and asked for help after her husband repeatedly called her baby bump “disgusting” and unattractive.
As a young lady in her 20s revealed in her viral Reddit post, she and her husband recently celebrated the news of their first pregnancy.
While everything went smooth at first, the man, whom she said was a great husband so far, started openly body shaming her and telling her she is “disgusting” as her baby bump began to grow.
“I’ve really been struggling with my self-esteem during pregnancy recently, and feel like I hit an all-time low last night when I cried myself to sleep,” the woman admitted.
“I’ve known my husband for over 10 years, and he jokes a lot. We are both in our late 20s. He’s always been polite and overall a great husband, so these comments the last few months have really been throwing me off.
“Over the last few months, he’s been making some comments that have really hurt my feelings and self-esteem. Frankly, he finds my pregnant body unattractive. I know some are jokes, but others he fully means.”
The mom-to-be added: “He hates my belly. He calls it disgusting. He doesn’t want to see it, ever. I no longer feel comfortable changing in front of him.
“He told me my butt has been losing shape and has noticed my back is a little fatter. He basically said I’m no longer attractive from behind. That he can’t wait for me to get my body back.
“I really didn’t mind my pregnant body up until now. Now I just feel awful and gross and terrified of how grossed out he’ll be with my postnatal body.”
Terrified by the despicable thoughts of her own husband, who was supposed to support her throughout her pregnancy, the lady is now asking people for advice on how to deal with her situation.
After asking people for help, Reddit users were quick to show support for the young lady and blast her husband for making rude comments about her appearance.
“His disrespect is appalling, frankly. You don’t deserve that. I’m so very sorry you’re dealing with this. Your pregnant body is inherently beautiful because of the miracle of life it is creating! Your body is working so hard and comments like this are absolutely unnecessary and flat out cruel,” someone wrote.
“You deserve better, so much better. Your belly isn’t disgusting, it is currently nourishing and protecting your unborn child,” another said.
The third suggested: “I am completely disgusted on your behalf. I would feel awful if I were hearing things like that from the father of my child. That’s someone you should trust, who shows you respect and kindness no matter what. If you can, be honest with him and tell him he absolutely cannot speak to you that way.”
