A mother who found out that she was pregnant discovered weeks into her pregnancy that she was pregnant again with two more babies.
Deonna ‘Dee’ Fletcher and her husband Antonio ‘T’ Livingston’ were in for the surprise of their lives when their first scan showed that they were expecting only one baby.
A second scan later revealed that there were actually three babies on the way!
Recalling the moment she found out that she was pregnant, she told the outlet: “took a test and it was positive, went to the ultrasound, and there was one baby, one sac.” However, what they initially believed to be a single pregnancy soon took a surprising twist.”
She said that she had a vag*nal ultrasound, which showed only one baby in one sac.
But after a week or two, she experienced a concerning pain while at work so she rushed to the emergency room for another ultrasound, fearing she had a miscarriage.
It was then that she and the medical team made the shocking discovery.
Dee had just experienced superfetation, a rare phenomenon that involves getting pregnant a second time while already pregnant.
“Basically, I ovulated twice, but at two different times,” she said, adding that the medical team informed her that this rare event could happen again in the future.
The mother-of-three also explained that she experienced multiple menstrual cycles per month.
“I naturally get my period two to three times a month. And after I found out I was pregnant, I did get another period. I didn’t know I was going to get pregnant again, but I did get pregnant again,” she said.
Dee said that her husband was also ‘really shocked’ and just couldn’t believe it.
She eventually underwent a c-section to welcome her three daughters: Amber, Amani, and Dream. They also now have a baby boy named Antonio Junior.
